Sometimes, when you’re going through the motions of your day-to-day life, it may feel like you’re perpetually stuck.

It may feel like you haven't accomplished much.

You may feel like because your financial state has plateaued or you have been living in the same place for a really long while, you don’t have much to show for your time.

This mindset is so easy to fall victim to, much like falling asleep for that afternoon nap. Speaking of sleep, feeling unfulfilled will inevitably make it harder to get out of bed in the morning and lead you to want to crawl back into it when you actually do leave.

I do my best to journal every single morning with my cup of coffee. Just unconscious streams of thought. I have been doing this for months now and it has made a significant difference in my understanding of my anxiety and lack of motivation to do pretty much anything of importance.

I have also been doing my best at starting my freelance writing career- reading, listing, prepping, and of course, writing. But my motivation, drive, and sense of accomplishment seem to be on sabbatical.

But his morning, my journaling brought me a really simple idea-

Write down every single accomplishment or important thing that has happened in the last 5 years.

So I did just that. And when I started to think about this on a deeper level- about what I really experienced in the last 5 years, I realized pretty quickly I had been selling myself short.

My list had 30 different and significant accomplishments on it by the time it was complete and that was just a stream of consciousness uninterrupted. I can only imagine how much would be on it if I really broke down each year of my life.

I was overcome with graditude and a strong sense of accomplishment, all from a list.

It wiped my slate of negative emotions clean from my morning and helped me see straight again.

It is amazing how easy it is to forget about how far you have actually come and wallow in all you feel you have yet to do.

Perspective is essential in order to keep moving forward and being successful- whatever that looks like to you!

Thanks for reading my thought nugget of the day! I appreciate you =)
